The redesign of Schloss Schauenstein, a 12th-century castle nestled in the Swiss Alps, marks a new chapter in the life of this historic culinary destination.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of chef Andreas Caminada’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant, the interiors have been reimagined by Danish studio Space Copenhagen.

Their sensitive intervention honours the castle’s medieval architecture while introducing a contemporary language of refined materials, quiet elegance, and sculptural form.

The result is a timeless and immersive environment, where design, craft, and context converge to enhance the sensory richness of guest experience.

Ancient stone walls and timber beams are complemented by natural materials – oak, wool, stone, and linen, evoking warmth and quiet elegance.

Carefully curated furniture blends restored vintage pieces with iconic designs from Cassina, B&B Italia, and bespoke creations.

In the dining room, locally crafted tableware and custom De La Espada chairs heighten the intimacy of Caminada’s culinary journey.

Soft lighting, earthy tones, and panoramic windows connect interiors to the surrounding landscape, while the Chimney Room Bar offers cocooning comfort in warm rust hues.

Across twelve unique guest rooms, guests are invited to retreat into stillness, experiencing the castle not just as accommodation, but as a living, breathing space shaped by time, craft, and context.
