Zenyk Art Gallery: where light becomes part of the art

October 29, 2025

In Lviv’s ZAG Gallery, lighting is not just functional. It is a creative medium shaping the visitor’s experience. Designed by Expolight in collaboration with Anna Iskierdo and AIMM Studio, the project integrates biodynamic lighting that follows the natural rhythm of daylight, enhancing both art and architecture.

Inside, custom-made luminaires with varied optics provide precisely calibrated accent lighting for artworks, while flexible infrastructure allows quick adaptation for exhibitions and events.

Integrated media installations connect different zones into one cohesive visual space, all controlled via custom software.

The gallery’s immersive VR room – the first of its kind in Ukraine – surrounds visitors with 360° projections that respond in real time to movement, even creating tactile “light you can feel” through laser and smoke effects.

Outside, the facade glows with hidden luminaires and seasonal lighting scenarios, while landscaping lights play softly like sunlight on water. ZAG Gallery demonstrates how light can be architecture, atmosphere, and art all at once.
