The Bide – a refuge from hustle

December 16, 2022

Location: Milton Meadow, United Kingdom

Fashioned in a contemporary architectural style and constructed with sustainable, eco-friendly building practices, The Bide is an inviting small, but cozy space with the luxuries of a good hotel.

Sustainability is at the heart of The Bide. It was designed using the Wikihouse system.

The FSC wooden frame was cut by CNC and bolted together by hand. To build the cabin house, low carbon materials were used, including sheep’s wool and wood fibre insulation and new sustainable technologies such as the Separett waterless toilet from Sweden, a decentralised MVHR system and the Nebia vapourised water shower which uses 40% less water than a regular shower.

The boardwalk terrace is meant for spending time outside in good weather and even taking a bath in the fresh air.

There is a bathtub on the terrace, the water in which can be heated using a built-in wood-burning stove. The panoramic windows provide excellent views of the surroundings.

The minimalist interior design style helps give The Bide a fresh, contemporary feel.
The sleeping place is located on a mezzanine above the generous bathroom and a kitchenette; opposite it there is a sofa and a compact dining table and there is even a bult-in library with carefully selected books.
